Family

Enjoyed another Meatless Monday meal in my study. This was a loaded burrito bowl with homemade tortillas. Once a month at Old Ironsides for $5 you can get some lovingly made dishes from the lovely kids of Burly Beverages.

The Head/Baker household taught me how simple yet complex the meaning of family can be by gifting me a screening of The Fate of The Furious in their backyard2

anytime Sail Inn Grotto is advertising a new drink, I can hardly stop myself1

Also the fish tacos were bomb. As always, I highly recommend getting your butt over to West Sac for these fine goods.

Urs Fischer: The Public & the Private

at The Legion of Honor

This was one of the more extraordinary shows I’ve seen in some time.  Having the contemporary sculptures of Urs Fischer interspersed among the Rodin statues and even a painting taking the place of a Peter Paul Rubens created such a dynamic juxtaposition of old and new, giving both new context and meaning.

The Crying Horse

I can’t intellectualize why, but this tiny horse is one of my favorite things I’ve ever seen. I saw a man nearly trip over it after not noticing it at all.

It all seems like such a fuck you to the art establishment that is the museum. It’s so rare to step into this kind of place and see such humor.
